This is my baby. I was born on Christmas Eve 1966 and this car came off the assembly line April 12, 1966. I rode past her on the bus going to the University of Arizona for eight months and lo and behold one day there was a for sale sign on her.
I jumped up and I rang the bell and the bus driver screamed at me to sit down that the bus was moving, and I yelled at him to stop the bus. He said I know you and I know you ride this bus four days a week and you’re not allowed to ride on this bus anymore, and my response was I don’t care I just bought a car.
I have owned her for 33 years.
She was born marina blue. With a 283 small block Chevy and a two speed powerglide. They were long gone. When I got her she had a very tired 327 and a turbo 350 transmission.
She now has a 375 hp 327 small block Chevy engine with 11 1/2 to one compression pistons, of forged steel crank up, performance rods or, roller rockers or, the 202 fuelie heads, a victor Junior aluminum intake manifold, a 750 double pumper Holley. A port and polished turbo 400 transmission with a 2800 stall. Headers and 3 inch exhaust all the way back give her a mean grumble. Three years ago she got drilled slotted front rotors and a whole chrome brake fluid reserve and booster. In other words she now had front disc brakes and was able to stop almost as fast as she was able to go.
Due to the high compression she requires 91 octane and $10 worth of octane boost. I used to drive her out to the airport and put in a half a tank of Ave gas, but that does not happen anymore.
In 2010 she got her frame off restoration. I had her painted white and the Boring Boring Boring. So we scarfed that white paint and she got two coats of chrome yellow that started out as 1968 Corvette yellow And three coats of clearcoat.
